Ravindra Jadeja Backed for 2027 WC Role by India’s Spin Coach

The potential of Team India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for the 2027 World Cup is currently being assessed, with Sairaj Bahutule, the spin-bowling coach, emphasising the left-hander’s utility. Bahutule announced the news in Guwahati on Tuesday, September 29, as Jadeja prepares for the competition in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. The evaluation is occurring at a critical juncture, with less than 20 ODIs remaining before the commencement of the World Cup campaign.

Ravindra Jadeja returned to the ODI team in Thiruvananthapuram to face the West Indies after missing the home series against Afghanistan and the tour of England, during which he failed to secure a wicket and conceded 54 runs in his allotted quota. Bahutule observed the competition for positions in India’s spin department, where Axar Patel is currently serving at the Asian Games, in addition to Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar.

Bahutule assesses Ravindra Jadeja’s potential for the 2027 World Cup.

Bahutule has consistently regarded Ravindra Jadeja as a performer who is capable of making a diverse contribution. The spin coach emphasised Jadeja’s recent progress with the ball and his value as a middle-order attacker. Bahutule’s assessment aligns with India’s overarching strategy to evaluate all available alternatives prior to the World Cup.

Ravindra Jadeja’s recent performances and improved pitching

Bahutule was greatly encouraged by Jadeja’s recent Test cricket performances and his return to ODI action. The spin coach noted that Jadeja’s initial game following an extended absence demonstrated potential, despite the competitive nature of India’s spin options. Jadeja remains a viable candidate for the World Cup selection, as per Bahutule’s comments.
